Say hello
Reader mail gets read. All of it. Eventually.
The address is hello@lianashford.com. It arrives in my own inbox — no form, no captcha, no ticket number, no autoresponder congratulating you on successfully reaching out. If you can't work out which of the categories below you belong to, use this one and I'll sort it out at my end.
If you're a reader: write to that address, or simply reply to any issue of The Ledger. Tell me which chapter got you, or which character you don't trust. I read those first. If you want an answer, ask a question; I'm more reliable with questions than with compliments, mostly because I never know what to do with compliments.
If you're press, an agent, or a publisher: put the nature of the inquiry in the subject line — "rights", "translation", "film", "audio". Each of those gets its own folder, because each of those gets its own kind of email. The Price of Walking Away is available for all four.
If you just want to say something in public: X and the Wattpad comment section are both open, and I read both. They're the least private way to reach me and the ones I check most often, which tells you something about writers.
I'm one person with a day job and a draft open in another tab, so give me a week or two. If it's been longer than that, send it again. Messages get buried; nobody's ignoring you.
One practical note: this is a one-person operation with a couple of addresses behind it, so a reply occasionally arrives from a different address than the one you wrote to. It's still me.
